FIFA is in advanced talks over the suspension of the Russian national team until further notice.
Football’s world governing body is working closely with UEFA and a decision is expected later on Monday.
The decision would mean Russia would not be able to play their World Cup play-off against Poland next month.
FIFA’s original decision to stop short of suspending Russia was not final.
“Later today [Monday] it will be announced that Russia has been banned from international football. FIFA are at the moment in advanced talks over suspending the Russian national team until further notice.
“FIFA is working closely with UEFA on this. We had the situation on Sunday when the Bureau of the FIFA Council met when they stopped just short of banning Russia.
